Leonardo trainee in hairdressing and beauty sector
at European Training Services Ltd (Anywhere)
The Leonardo da Vinci is a programme funded by Brussels and co-funded by host companies and/or other organisations. The programme is aimed at supporting the acquisition of new skills to facilitate personal development and facilitate mobility of people through European partnerships.
European Training Services Limited have been organising such programmes for the past twenty years, specifically recruiting for the Leonardo da Vinci programmes for the past fifteen years.
The programme starts with a 2/3 weeks’ language course in the destination country, followed by a 9/10 weeks’ work-experience placement within a company. The language preparation will enable you to have, at least, basic conversational abilities in the language. If you already have some knowledge of the language then your progression will be more advanced. We strongly advise applicants to learn as much of the language before departure as possible. The higher the level the more interesting the placement will be.
In the last 2 years ETS have been cooperating with Rand Rocket to offer vocational training programmes to people who are interested in self-development and gaining an insight into different work practices by working in a foreign country. We are now targeting exclusively college leavers who have completed NVQ level II and/or III in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Spa Therapy. Most of the programme costs are covered by the EU. These include as follows:
- International travel
- 2/3 weeks’ language course abroad
- Accommodation (12 weeks)
- Insurance
- Living allowance (500 to 600 Euro in total)
In Gran Canaria accommodation will be in apartments on a self-catering basis, sharing with other British participants on the programme.
In Italy accommodation will be in apartments or houses on a self-catering basis, sharing with other British participants, and/or international students, and/or living-in Italian landlord/landladies.
In Germany accommodation will be in host families on a self-catering basis, one participant per host family.
In France accommodation will be in host families either on a half-board basis or self-catering basis. If you choose to be lodge on a half-board basis your allowance will be given to the host family to provide you with breakfast and evening meals. (programme may be available next summer 2012)
When and where will you be going?
Destination Programme dates
Italy (Padua) January to April 2012
Spain (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) January to April 2012
Germany (Hamburg) February/March 2012
The type of work that you will be doing will, of course, depend upon your qualifications, skills, experience and language ability. The lower the level of your language skills the more flexible you have to be as far as your tasks are concerned.
How much will it cost you?
The costs to you will be a Commitment Sum of £150 (which will be refunded 3 months after completion of the programme), and whatever spending money you wish to take with you.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for a place on one of these programmes, you should be:
- a British citizen or a European national (resident in the UK)
- college leaver, unemployed, employed,
- have ambitions to improve your vocational training
