MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST
OVERALL PURPOSE:
Participates in the performance of all standard clinical laboratory tests and procedures; provides clerical, supply, and administrative support required in laboratory administration.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Arranges schedules for Laboratory technicians.
• Handles the maintenance of laboratory records and reports.
• Performs a wide range of complex and specialized procedures in all general areas of the laboratory.
• Performs routine bacteriological, biological, and chemical tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of disease.
• Maintains records concerning laboratory tests according to standard procedures.
• Participates in the selection and training of laboratory personnel.
• Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Requirement: Graduate of B.S. Medical Technology with license
Knowledge of Specific Functional Work: Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technology.
Industry / Work Experience Required: At least 4 years experience in related field
Special Skills / Behaviors Required: Skill in the use of medical laboratory equipment in the performance of required tests and examinations and skill in demonstrating the use of medical laboratory equipment; Ability to perform assigned tasks according to exactly prescribed procedures and to make accurate observations and records of tests results; Ability to handle preparation of reports and the maintenance of records.
