Crew Chief

We are now seeking a Crew Chief, who will be working on an exciting project at a remote location in Ontario. This is a 5 month contract position, working approximately 21 days on site with 7 days off plus travel days. Due to the nature of the remote site, the successful candidate can be located anywhere across Canada.
The successful candidate will be working and representing GENIVAR on a mining project located in Northern Ontario. The Mining deposit is one of Canada’s largest undeveloped reserves and ranks among the top ten largest reserves in North America. The 376 square kilometer property is located on the northern most, relatively under-explored, Abitibi Greenstone Belt in northeastern Ontario.
As a Crew Chief on this project, your key responsibilities will include:
• Managing the daily activities of a survey field crew
• Operating survey instruments and devices
• Construction layout and quality control
• Preparing detailed field notes of survey activities
• Concrete and anchor bolt checks and asbuilts.
• Topographic surveys for quantity verification and payment
As our ideal candidate, your experience and qualifications will include:
• Successfully completed a recognized Survey Technology program or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years experience as a crew chief
• Demonstrated willingness to learn is essential
• Ability to function within a team environment essential
• Highly motivated self starter
• Familiarity with engineering, architectural and survey plans
• Familiarity with concepts of surfaces, contours, alignments, cross sections and profiles
• Knowledge of general survey procedures
• Familiarity with line creation by azimuth/distance and work with curves based on coordinate geometry
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Attention to detail essential
• Ability to adapt to changing environment
• Conscious of safety procedures
